“Citroen came out guns blazing”

Introducing the all-new Citroen C3, the French automakers entry level and cost-effective crossover. This new kid on the block is Citroen’s strategy on tackling the ever-growing B-segment that counts for quite a huge percentage of the SA market.

Styling:

The Citroen C3 shows off a quirky and bright aesthetic all around with our test guise finished in Zesty Orange, which is the perfect name for such a bright color. Our test vehicle also featured 15-inch wheels anodized in grey and a few contrasting bits all around. Furthermore, the C3 comes with halogen front and rear headlamps.

Interior:

For the price the C3 comes at, I didn’t expect much but I was hugely mistaken as the C3 comes with a black cloth interior (which may seem boring), but it featured color-matched orange stitching all around and grey anodized interior panels all around. Now the big ‘Wow!’ was the massive 10-inch touchscreen that displayed everything so well and was easy to use from connecting Apple CarPlay to finding where to connect your Bluetooth. Moreover, the sound system was not the best, but it also wasn’t too bad, which surprised us a lot as its competitors usually struggle in this area.

Engine power and performance:

The new Citroen C3 comes with a 1.2-Litre 3-cylinder PURETECH petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual producing 80hp and 115Nm of torque out the front wheels. The manual gearbox was one we thoroughly enjoyed as it was smooth and easy to use while on our daily commutes, and the 80hp was not too bad as you could access most of the power through each shift (if it was an automatic, we feel it would’ve been a struggle) other than that everything else was great for the price with the suspension not being too soft or too firm and the combined fuel consumption being 5.6l/100km which was a similar number to what we got. Overall, the Citroen C3 packs a punch and is awesome to drive.

Pricing:

The all-new Citroen C3 starts from R229 900 with a host of options that can be added.

Verdict:

Overall, the Citroen C3 is a car you should shortlist while shopping in this market. As it packs a punch, drives well and has a good number of features that make each drive a pleasant one.
